11/28/2023 0 Comments Vmware fusion windows 10 resize![]() I now have 10.13.6 vm's running, one on the MBP at 1440x900, and one on the 32" Mac Pro at 2560x1500. Sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/ DisplayResolutionEnabled -bool trueĪnd second, under the vm's setting panel/Display, make sure 3D graphics acceleration is turned off (this was off but turned itself back on on my MBP retina, so I turned it off again).Īlso, under Display/Virtual Machine Resolution/Single Window, select "Resize the virtual machine and the window". There are only two items of note that I did (and which I'v been doing all along, anyway). This time everything came together and it works. Just this past week, I started over (yet again) installing a new vm with the just released full installer of 10.13.6 as the "image". When the virtual machine window is resized, the virtual machine display is stretched to fill the window with the resolution unchanged. This setting specifies how all virtual machines appear in single window mode. Surely they have an Apple license.Īt any rate, the problem has solved itself. Select the Single Window resolution setting. I always wondered why VMWare could not produce a tools package that self-registered that whatever-it-is item that needs approval. Well, of course, I have been forced to do that during the VMWare Tools install ever since I started trying to install 10.13.x vm. I am about ready to abandon any idea of having a 10.13.x VM. How in the world do a change a 10.13.5 VM window to either 1440x900 or 2560x1600, and have the VM inside that window running at that resolution? Scaled always gives one option, 1024x768. I've tried "Default for Display" and "Scaled". I am also unable to drag it out to a size that would accommodate 2560x1600. It refuses to change resolution to anything above 1024x768, no matter how big I make the window. I have tried all sorts of settings to the VM, to the config files on the host and on the VM (all suggested here). This will prevent resizing the main desktop. I have followed along since the initial release of 10.13, trying each new release of 10.13.x and VMWare Fusion. During the installation, step through the install and answer no to installing the virtual video device driver. Now, trying to create a 10.13.x VM that will do the same thing seems to be impossible. It even told me the new resolution down in the corner where I was dragging it, while I was dragging it. This has always worked up through 10.12.6 by simply dragging it bigger. ![]() On my 32" monitor running at 3840x2160, I resize the VM's to 2560x1600. On my MBP/retina, I size VM's to 1440x900. Up through 10.12.6, after installing VMWare tools, I was able to resize the VM window by simply dragging one corner, and the resolution inside automatically adjusted to the new size. ![]() I posted about this early in the release of 10.13.0. ![]()
